Elsie Mae Wilson

April 12, 1932 - Jan. 7, 2010
SOUTH BEND - Elsie Mae was born April 12, 1932, in Pocahontas, Virginia. She was the youngest of seven children born to Lonnie and Elsie Davis. Her parents and five siblings preceded her in death. Elsie moved to Detroit, Michigan, at an early age. She was educated in the Detroit Public Schools. She married Ollie Harris and to that union one child was born, Seletha Ann. Elsie's love for making others beautiful inspired her to further her education at John Robert Powell School of Modeling; Queen's School of Cosmetology; Oliver Benson's School of Cosmetology (Boston, MA); Pivot Point (Chicago, IL); Virginia Farrell and Dudley Cosmetology University (Kernersville, NC). She married James Wilson in 1963. From this marriage she took on the love of four children. Elsie was a self-employed cosmetologist for 36 years. During her years as a cosmetologist, she owned the "Net Set Hair Fashion Salon." It was more than a hair salon, it was a gathering spot to socialize, relax and share in many laughs. "Net Set" held many memories for all who came. She knew and loved the Lord. She confessed Christ at an early age and remained faithful until her death. She was an active member of Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of Angelic Voices choir, the Missionary Department and was a faithful Sunday school teacher. Elsie was a "real" family woman. She was a mother to many, giving advice and support as needed. She always extended herself and her home to those in need. If she loved you, you knew it, if she could help you she would. Her kind heart and giving spirit will be missed by all. She moved to Granger, Indiana, in 2007 with her daughter, Seletha, son-in-law, Richard, and grandson, Kes, who cared for her until she passed. Elsie passed on January 7, 2010, in Granger, Indiana. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter and son-in-law, Seletha and Richard Robertson of Granger, IN, Keith Wilson, Deborah Wilson, David Wilson and Michelle Wilson of Virginia Beach, VA. Six grandchildren, Khyra (Anthony) Hayes, Kelli (Willie) Shorter, Soneni (Karega) Heard of Columbus, GA, Richard Jr. (Necole) Robertson, Keiya (Dale) Newell and Kesmund Robertson of Granger, IN. 16 great-grandchildren, Desiray, Kandace, David (Tre), Adrian, Raeven, Shanelle, Mariah, TreSean, Shakailah, Cordell, Asia, Alante', Enthoni, Nia, Deante' and Davion. One sister, Lonnie Lee Parks, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The Celebration of Life for Elsie was held Friday, January 15, 2010, at The Historical Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church with interment following at Grandlawn Cemetery, Detroit, Michigan.
