Ethel M. Wilson

Ethel M. Wilson, 91, of 1121 E. LaSalle, formerly of Bently Place, died on Wednesday, Aug. 4, in the Cardinal Nursing Home.

Ethel was employed by Wymans Department Store, South Bend, Ind., for 9 years and Greenblatts Store for 8 years. She was born on May 8, 1908, in South Bend, and had been a lifetime area resident.

She was married to Walter E. Wilson, who died on May 2, 1966. She was the daughter of Elmer G. and Blanch (Sumption) Peterson, who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, Brian L. of Bloomington, Minn., and Dennis A. of Glen Elyn, Ill.; five grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; a sister, Genevieve Donat of Bend, Ore.; and by two brothers, Elmer G. Peterson of Spring Hill, Fla., and Howard Peterson of Deltona, Fla.

Ethel was a past president of the Muessel School PTA, a past treasurer of the Central High School PTA, past officer of the City Council PTA, past mother advisor of Rainbow for Girls, Indiana Chapter 106, past matron of Rose Croix Chapter 575 Order of Eastern Star, past president of the OES (Order of Eastern Star) Auxiliary, past president of Past Matrons of District 20, past Worthy High Priestess of Messiah #10 White Shrine of Jerusalem, past Matron of Court #11 Order of the Amaranth, a past officer of the Woodmen of the World, a past den mother in the Cub Scouts, and she was also a volunteer at Osteopathic Hospital.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday in the Hickey Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
