Father Jerome J. Wilson, C.S.C., 86, died after suffering a stroke on Friday, Jan. 2, in Mount Lebanon, Pa.

He was born in Brookline, (Pittsburgh) Pa., on Jan. 31, 1911, to the late George and Mary (Rihn) Wilson. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame, Ind., in 1932.

He worked for the Bendix-Westinghouse Corporation of Elyria, Ohio, for nine years before entering Holy Cross Seminary in 1942. He professed first vows on Aug. 15, 1943, made his final profession on Aug. 16, 1947, and was ordained to the priesthood at Holy Cross College, Washington, D.C., on Feb. 7, 1949. He served at the University of Notre Dame from 1949 until 1978, where he taught accounting from 1949 to 1952, directed the Old College Seminary Program 1951-52, was vice-president of Business Affairs from 1952 to 1976, and was the executive administrator of the physical plant from 1976 to 1978.

He served in campus ministry at St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, 1978-9, and from 1979 to 1982 assisted part-time at St. Joseph's Parish, South Bend, Ind. He was a member of the staff at Moreau Seminary while serving as a chaplain at the Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center, South Bend.

He is survived by a sister, Mary Gilson of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a brother, Jack Wilson of Spokane, Wash.; and by many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and great-grandnieces and nephews.

Viewing will begin at 3:30 p.m. today in Moreau Seminary, Notre Dame, where a wake service will be held this evening at 7:30.

A Mass of Resurrection and the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Notre Dame. Burial will follow in the Holy Cross Community Cemetery at Notre Dame.
