Don L. (Peno) Wilftong, 68, of 3115 Rue Voltaire, and Big Fish Lake, Marcellus, died at 11:43 am Tuesday in Memorial Hospital after a one month illness. He retired from Sears Roebuck and Co. after 35 years of service. Born on Aug. 29, 1915, in South Bend, he was a lifelong area resident. His wife, June survives with three daughters, Mrs. Fred (Linda) Isban of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Greg (Julie) Long and Mrs. Robert (Cindy) Frame, both of South Bend, five grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Doris Kanouse of Mishawaka. Services will be at 10 am Friday in the Hickey Funeral Home. Rev. Kenneth Brown, pastor of Trinity Episcopal Church, Three Rivers, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm today and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Thursday in the funeral home. He was a member of River Park Lions Club, Paw Lake Elks Lodge and American Turners. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a 1934 graduate of Central High School. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph County Cancer Society.
