Walter A. Wiltfong, 76, of 1112 McKinley Ave, died unespectedly in his home at about 1:15 pm Saturday. He was a retired employee of the South Bend Water Works. He was born in New Carlisle on Sept. 23, 1886. His wife Clara, died in 1961. Surviving are two sons, Ralph and Leslie, both of South Bend; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren; his brother, Wilbert Wiltfong, North Lliberty; three sisters, Mrs. Clarence Riedel and Mrs. James Tyler, both of South Bend, and Mrs. O.G. Wiegand, Chula Vista, Calif. Friends may call after noon today in the Hickey Funeral Home, where services will be held at 2 pm, Monday. Rev. Birt Harris, pastor of the Good Shepard Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. He was a member of the South Bend Maennerchor Club.  Pallbearers will be Donald Reaves, Jack Ross, Boyd Lower, George Waechter, Frank Dulhand and Charles Holmes.
