Rev. John J. Winiarski CSC, 48, a former assistant pastor at two South Bend churches, died this morning in Chicago, where he had been serving as an assistant pastor at Holy Trinity Church since 1953. He was born on July 22, 1914 in Fall River, Mass. He entered the novitiate of the Congregation of the Holy Cross on July 1, 1933, and made his first profession of vows on Aug. 16, 1938. A 1938 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, he was ordained to the priesthood on June 24, 1942. From 1942 to 1945 he was an assistant at Holy Trinity Church; from 1945 to 1950 he was an assistant at St. Stanislaus Church her; and from 1950 to 1953 he was an assistant at St. Hedwig Church here. He then returned to Holy Trinity.

 

Funeral services will be conducted in Holy Trinity Church at 10 a.m. Saturday, and burial will be in the Congregation of Holy Cross Cemetery at Notre Dame.
