Obituary: Mary Ann Winquist

March 20, 1938 -- Sept. 12, 2004

Mary Ann Winquist, 66, of Green Pine Court, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 12, in her residence.

Mary Ann was born on March 20, 1938, in South Bend, as the daughter of the late Virginia Hess. On Dec. 27, 1958, as the former Mary Ann Hess, she married John C. Winquist, who preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 2002.

She is survived by her sisters, Barbara (Philip) Weihoffen of Bountiful, Utah, and Joanne (Carl) Williams of Peoria, Ariz.; a brother, Dave (Peggy) Ranschaert of Indianapolis, Ind.; and by several nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann had lived in the Mishawaka area for the last year, coming from Indianapolis, Ind., where she retired from being a nurse's aide. She and her husband traveled extensively due to the fact that he was in the Army. She loved cats, enjoyed going fishing, watching wrestling and cooking. Spending time at the lake was one of her very favorite things to do. Mary Ann was a woman who was not afraid to speak her mind and did so often.

Friends and family can come together to celebrate Mary Ann's life from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 17, in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, South Bend. Graveside services will take place at Legacy Memorial Park Cemetery, Indianapolis, at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
