Douglas L. Winter

Feb. 7, 1920 - Nov. 6, 1998

Douglas L. Winter, 78, of the Hamilton Grove Nursing Home, New Carlisle, Ind., passed away at 1:45 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, where he had resided.

Mr. Winter was originally from West Ridgeway, Ohio. He moved to Osceola, Ind., in 1966 after living in Toledo, Ohio, for 25 years. He was a graduate of Ohio State University where he received his law degree. He served his country in World War II in the Air Force.

Mr. Winter was formerly employed at the Kaiser Jeep Corporation in Toledo and eventually transferred to the AM General Corporation in South Bend, Ind., where he retired in 1987.

On Jan. 11, 1991, he married Ethel ''Laverene'' Kelley, who preceded him in death on June 6, 1998.

He is survived by a son, Douglas Winter of Oakland, Calif.; a grandson, Haley Winter, also of Oakland; and by a sister, Lois Borghi of Englewood Cliff, N. J.

There will be no services or visitation. Cremation will take place, with burial of cremains to be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hamilton Grove Retirement Community.

The Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, is in charge of arrangements.
