Aug. 10, 1911 - April 10, 1999

Margaret S. Wisniewski, 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep after suffering for several years from Alzheimer's Disease on Saturday, April 10, in St. Joseph's Care Center, South Bend, Ind.

She was born on Aug. 10, 1911, in Waubay, S.D., to Nicholas and Valeria Gronke, and she lived in South Bend most of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by a brother, Thomas of South Dakota.

Margaret was employed by the former Wilson Brothers and Claeys Candy, and she retired from the South Bend Public Library. She was a member of St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church, the Ladies Rosary Society and the Frederic Chopin Choir.

She is survived by two daughters, Irene (Chester) Bentkowski and Josephine (Curtis) Thews, both of South Bend; a sister, Mary Lipinski of New Carlisle, Ind.; three grandsons, Michael J. Nemes, Steven J. Bentkowski and Kenneth A. Bentkowski; five great-grandchildren, Sara Nemes, Steven J. Bentkowski, Jr., Patrick Bentkowski, Kaylee Lawson and Timothy Nemes; and by a great-great-grandson, Evan Moore.

Services will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 2, in St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church. There will be no visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Frederic Chopin Choir Organ Fund, in care of St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church Rectory, 159 N. Summit Drive, South Bend, IN 46619.
