Edith Wolf

Edith Wolf, 79, of South 25th Street, South Bend, passed away at 9:37 p.m. Thursday, November 3, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. She was born on January 18, 1926, in Kewanna, Indiana, to the late Alice (Ream) and Oliver Baldwin. Mrs. Wolf was also preceded in death by four sisters, Geraldine (Zellers) White, Ruby (Baldwin) Crabb, Dorothy (Zellers) Forker and Goldie (Baldwin) Muzzey; and six brothers, Donald Baldwin, Elmer Baldwin, Hugh Baldwin, Delbert Zellers, Oscar Zellers and Ralph Baldwin.

 

Mrs. Wolf is survived by her husband of 56 years, who she met at the Palace Theatre in South Bend, Howard Wolf. Mr. and Mrs. Wolf were married on March 26, 1949, in South Bend. She is also survived by two daughters, Kathleen Wolf and Diana Payne, both of South Bend; two grandchildren, Amanda (Matt) Kurzhal and Jessica Payne, both also of South Bend; two great-grandchildren, Megan and Nathan Kurzhal; and by a sister, Martha (Baldwin) Cloud of Rochester, Indiana.

 

Mrs. Wolf worked for 10 years at Bell Telephone Company, after which she became a homemaker. She was a member of Gospel Center Missionary Church, South Bend, was a graduate of Kewanna High School, and did volunteer work at Saint Joseph Hospital, South Bend. She loved to bake and sew, but most of all she enjoyed watching her great-granddaughter, Megan, play.

 

Services for Mrs. Wolf will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street, South Bend, where friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. today. Rev. Chuck Husted of Gospel Center Missionary Church will conduct the services. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Gospel Center Missionary Church, 930 S. 30th, South Bend, IN 46615; or to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637-3437. Mrs. Wolf touched a lot of lives with her gentleness and will be greatly missed by all of those who knew her.
