SOUTH BEND - Jean G. Wonisch, 87, passed away Wednesday morning in Orlando, FL, surrounded by her children. She was born Jean Geraldine Sophia Blankert in Mishawaka, IN, and married Ernest Carl Wonisch of South Bend in 1942. They are survived by three children, Terese (Jerry Lynch) of Orlando, FL, Nancy (Bill Holm) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Ernest Jr. (Caron) of South Bend. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Chad (Jennifer) and Corey (Kate) Holm of Colorado Springs, Andrea (Tim) Hoover and Ernest Wonisch (Kat) of South Bend. In addition, she had five great-grandchildren, Bree, Lucas, Abbigail, Peyton and Wrigley. While raising their family in South Bend, she was a member of Our Lady of Hungary parish and worked as a secretary for the South Bend Community School Corporation. She was active in South Side Little League, the St. Ann Society and the D.F.V. German Club. In Orlando she did volunteer work with the Give Kids the World Foundation at Kid's Village. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Anna and Edward Blankert, her brother, Ed, and sister, Louise Millar, and most recently, her daughter-in-law, Caron.

 

A memorial Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008, in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial of her ashes will follow at Highland Cemetery. Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or to the Give Kids the World Foundation in Orlando, FL.
