L. Scott Woody

MISHAWAKA - L. Scott Woody, 76, of North Oakland Avenue, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind. Mr. Woody was born on Jan. 29, 1921, in Montezuma, Ind., and was a lifetime resident of the South Bend-Mishawaka area.

 

On Sept. 27, 1942, in Bloomingdale, Ind., he married Mary A. Walter, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Sharon K. Slott of Mishawaka and Patricia L. Bradbury of Walkerton, Ind.; a son, James W. Woody of North Liberty, Ind. Mr. Woody is also survived by six loving grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Taylor and Barbara Howard, both of Rockville, Ind.; and by a brother, Jack Woody of Beech Grove, Ind.

 

He retired from Allied Signal in 1981 after 30 years of dedicated service. He also served during World War II in the U.S. Army, and was a member of Union Local No. 9.

 

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Hanley & Sons ''Southwest Chapel'' Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/ State Road 23, South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday in the funeral home, with Pastor David Finch officiating. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Joseph County Heart Association; the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Indianapolis Chapter, located at 50 South Meridian Street, Suite 505, Indianapolis, IN 46204; or to the charity of donor's choice. Hanley & Sons ''Southwest Chapel'' Funeral Home handled services, and extend heartfelt sympathy to the Woody Family.
