SOUTH BEND - William "Bill" Word Jr., 65, of South Bend, passed away in his home on Sunday February 17, 2008. He was born in London, Kentucky, on December 18, 1942, to William and Ola (Tensley) Word, who preceded him in death.

Bill met his wife Lorraina Fox of South Bend and they were married in Washington, D.C. Lorraina survives Bill. He is also survived by three daughters, Jeanine and Bridgette Word, both of South Bend, and Valarie Word of Hollywood, CA; a son, Troy Word of Los Angeles, CA; and by six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters, many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded by in death by a brother, Donald Ray Word of Kentucky. Bill was a paint foreman for the South Bend Community School Corporation, retiring in 2004.

Friends may spend time with the family on Friday, Feb. 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m., with Rev. Ervin Mize officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph County Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
