SOUTH BEND - Joseph F. Woveris, 88, of 1830 E. Bowman St., died at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday in his home of natural causes. Mr. Woveris retired as an engineer from Bendix Corp. He was born Oct. 4, 1905, in Chicago, and lived in South Bend since 1935, coming from Chicago.

On Nov. 6, 1929, in Chicago, he married Mary Pruchnik. She died June 19, 1989. He is survived by three daughters, Patricia Bloom of St. Charles, Ill., Ann Smith of Guthrie, Okla., and Betty Sommers of Huntington Beach, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Drive. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
