Donald I. Wray, 103, of Walkerton, Indiana, died Monday, March 19, 2001, at LaPorte Hospital after a brief Illness.

 

He was born on January 11, 1898, to Lafayette and Jennie (Spencer) Wray. On November 30, 1946, he married Ann Marie Blissenbach, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mary Helen of Walkerton and Virginia Malloy of Houston, Texas.

 

Most of his life was spent in LaPorte County where he raised Hereford cattle and farmed. He was a member of the Walkerton Masonic Lodge, the LaPorte County Row Crop Food Producers, and the Walloon Lake Association in Petoskey, Michigan. He was a St. Joseph County 4-H Horse and Pony Leader, a member of the John Glenn High School Building committee, and served as an election official in Johnson Township until age 102. He was the chairman of the Walkerton Festival Horse Show for many years, and was an anecdotal contributor to the Northern Indiana Center for History and the Walkerton Historical Society.

 

A graveside service will be conducted by Fr. Michael Winkowski at 11 a.m. E.S.T., today, March 21, in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton.
