Ruben W. Wright, Sr., 81, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, in the Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Ruben, Sr., was born on Jan. 20, 1918, to James and Estella Wright in Charleston, Miss. He moved to South Bend, Ind., in 1947. Ruben, Sr., was preceded in death by his mother and father, three brothers and four sisters.

He is survived by his wife, McClellan Wright; a daughter, Shirley (Clarence) Wright; two sons, Ruben, Jr., (Debra) and James A. Wright; eight grandchildren, Quiltina (Orenthai) Steward, Terrence (Kelly) White, Tyclee White, L'Oreal Wright, Sarah Wright, Joshua Wright, Quintara Wright and Lacey Wright; one great-grandchild, Master Brandon White; five sisters, Beatrice Jarnett, Julia Scott, Geneva Lewis, Bonnie (Levy) Gibson and Katherine Webb; two special cousins, Nora Beatteast and Ernestine Williams; and by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Ruben, Sr., retired from the Hurwich Iron Company. He was a member of the Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church for many years.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday. Interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend.
