Clementine J. Wrobel

Clementine J. Wrobel, 82, of Carleton Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., (formerly of Brentwood Drive in South Bend, Ind.) passed away at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 27, in Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness. She was born on July 21, 1921, to the late Anton and Frances Rogalska in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.

 

Her parents, and two sisters, Mary Szymanowski and Sophie Piatek, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Wrobel was retired from the University of Notre Dame after 35 years of service. On April 6, 1940, as Clementine J. Rogalska, she married Stanley "Ed" Wrobel in St. Hedwig Catholic Church, South Bend.

 

Along with her loving husband of 64 years, she is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann (Don) Riffel of Mishawaka; one son, Bob Wrobel of Detroit, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey (Claudia) Wrobel of Monterey, Calif., Andrew (Kelly) Wrobel of Malta, N.Y., Michael (Heidi) Wiskotoni of Edwardsburg, Mich., Mark (Kristine) Wiskotoni of Elkhart, Ind., John Riffel of South Bend, Jeff (Christine) Riffel of Osceola, Jim (Cheryl) Riffel of South Bend and Kirk (Becky) Riffel of Mishawaka; 18 great-grandchildren, Shane, Yvana, Kira and Alena Wrobel, Kylie, Austin and Alexis Wiskotoni, Celia, Derrick, Zach and Caden Riffel, Brianna Riffel, Tamara, Tony and D.J. Tierney, Andrew Brogdon, and Jerod and Kyle Riffel.

 

Mrs. Wrobel was a member of St. Hedwig Parish. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, in St. Hedwig Catholic Church, with Rev. Leonard F. Chrobot officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, March 30, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Hedwig Catholic Church, 309 S. Taylor Street, South Bend, IN 46601.
