Mary Ann DeCola Wukovits

Mary Ann DeCola Wukovits of Miami Road, South Bend, Ind., through God's grace and friendship, entered into everlasting life at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, 1999, in her home. Mary Ann was born in South Bend to Joseph and Mary DeCola on January 8, 1944.

 

She is survived and cherished by her children, Kathleen (Scott) Lehmann of South Bend, Karen (Kenneth) Kochanowski of Osceola, and Frank and his fiancee, Kellie Winenger of South Bend. Three grandchildren, Aaron Lehmann, Elizabeth Lehmann, and Morgan Kochanowski. Her parents, Joseph and Mary DeCola of South Bend; two brothers, Robert (Bonnie) DeCola and Victor (Pam) DeCola, both of South Bend. She also survived and cherished by dear and loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.

 

Mary Ann retired from the University of Notre Dame, where she spent many years as a secretary for various departments. She developed close friendships and bonds with those she worked, especially Father Eugene Lauer. Mary Ann enjoyed the love and grace of her family and friends. United with Christ in baptism, Mary Ann lived her life with the faith and acceptance of Christ. She departed her Earthly pilgrimage with acceptance of God's love and at peace, having received the fulfillment and love of all those close to her.

 

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the Cathedral of St. Matthew. Her body will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. today in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 1827 E. Ireland Road, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m.

Mary Ann was a member of the Cathedral of St. Matthew, the Rosary Sodality, Mind and Body Program of St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, a volunteer with the auction at the Center for the Homeless, and was a graduate of John Adams High School, Class of 1962.
