Theodore R. Wunder, 89, of Bonfire Mobile Home Park, died Thursday, Jan. 17, in the Leesburg Medical Center.

Born in Rock, Wis., he moved to Lake County a year ago from Pine Island, Fla. He was a commercial truck driver in Janesville, Wis., when he was drafted during World War II. He served in the United States Army Air Corps in Florida, and was transferred to the infantry for the last crucial months of the European Campaign. After military service, he returned to Janesville and worked as a diesel mechanic until he retired to Pine Island.

His wife of 50 years, Betty (Romig) Wunder, who was formerly of South Bend, Ind., preceded him in death on July 19, 2000.

He valued his membership in VFW Post 8087 in Taveres, Fla., and Eagles Lodge #435 in South Bend. He and his wife enjoyed many years of camping and membership in Good Sams RV Club.

He is survived by his sister, Nellie Huscka of Albuquerque, N.M.; and Bill and Eva Romig of Leesburg, Fla., and Robert and Paul Romig of New Carlisle, Ind.

Coral Ridge Funeral Home, Cape Coral, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.

Cremation has taken place and the ashes will be placed next to his wife. A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, in the Bonfire Community Building, Leesburg, Fla. Rev. Mr. Paul Fisher officiated.
