Rev. Frank S. Wyss CSC, 88, of the Holy Cross House at Notre Dame, died Sunday evening in St. Joseph Medical Center after a brief illness. He had served as a missionary in East Bengal, India, noe Bangladesh, for 55 years. He was born March 1, 1894 in Fort Wayne and attended St. Joseph Elementary School and Central Catholic High School there. In 1916 h entered Holy Cross Seminary at Notre Dame, graduating from the University of Notre Dame in 1919. His first profession of vows was made on July 8, 1920 and after theological studies at Holy Cross College in Washington DC, he was ordained to the priesthood on June 27, 1924 at Sacred Heart Church at Notre Dame.

 

He was assigned to Bangleadesh in 1924 where he served in parishes of various villages. In 1980 he returned to the United States because of poor health and lived at Holy Cross House until the time of his death. He is survived by two sisters, Miss Verba Wyss and Mrs. Viola Rohyans, both of Fort Wayne.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Sacred Heart Church, with Rev. John C. Gerber CSC, assistant provincial of the Order of Holy Cross, officiating. Rev. Eugene A. Burke CSC will deliver the homily. Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Moreau Seminary Chapel, where a wake service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Rev. Edmund N. Goedert CSC, of the District of Dacca will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in the Community Cemetery on the campus
