George M. Yandl (Aug. 22, 1912-Aug. 3, 1995)

SOUTH BEND - Services for George M. Yandl, 82, of Wedgewood Drive, who died at 8:20 a.m. Thursday in Holy Cross Care & Rehabilitation Center, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday in Hickey Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association.

 

Mr. Yandl retired as a lieutenant colonel with the Air Force Reserve after 30 years of service and was a former employee of the Studebaker Corp. and of Indiana Toll Road Commission as an attendant. He was born Aug. 22, 1912, in South Bend. On Feb. 3, 1940, in South Bend, he married Pauline Helling. She survives with a daughter, Beverly Green of South Bend; two sons, Richard G. of South Bend and George A. of Painesdale, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sister Joan Grande of South Bend. A son, William A., died Oct. 13, 1966. He was a member of the church, past member of the Reserve Officers Association and was a veteran of World War II.
