Jeane Yeager

MISHAWAKA - Jeane Yeager, 77, of Mishawaka, passed away at 12:36 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22nd. She was on vacation in Ocala, FL, and succumbed to a sudden illness. Jeane retired in 1995 from First Source Bank after 31 years of service. In her earlier years she worked at Shoppers Fair in South Bend. Jeane was born on May 4, 1930, in Mishawaka, to the late William F. and Velma L. (Finton) Hostetler, and had lived in this area all of her life.

 

She married Allen E. Yeager in November 1949, who preceded her in death. She is survived by three daughters, Paula D. Canarecci and Janet A. (Michael) Maciulski of South Bend, and Sue E. Hubler of Mishawaka; a son, Dennis A. Yeager of Cassopolis, MI; eight grandchildren, Stacy (Dan) Demien, Stephanie Hubler, Tony (Erin) Canarecci, Mark Canarecci, MacLane Maciulski, Kyle Maciulski, Korin Maciulski and Danny Yeager. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, Tyler Canarecci, Samera Harris, Dawson Demien and Keegan Demien.

 

Jean was a faithful member of River Park United Methodist Church. She volunteered many hours in their food pantry, children's programs, and was in charge of funeral luncheons for many years. She was active in the church's women's group and circles. She served on many boards and committees for the church as well as other organizations. She sang in the choir and was a member of the Searcher's Class. She enjoyed playing cards in a variety of card clubs. She graduated from John Adams High School in 1948 and was active in their alumni club and helped plan reunions. She attended Western Michigan College. She was a past member of the Business Women's Club of South Bend and South Bend Turners. She worked diligently to try to save the old Nuner School. Jeane was a charitable person who would do anything for her family and friends. She had a major impact on those who knew and loved her. She worked hard at whatever she did, whether raising a family, volunteering at church and community organizations or making a living. She opened her home and her heart to anyone in need. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought much enjoyment into her life and she into theirs. She had many dear friends who were very special to her and added so much to her life. She was an animal lover and her dog Misty was always close by. Jeane truly made this world a better place and will be dearly missed.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, and one hour prior to services in the funeral home.
