NEW CARLISLE - Michialene ''Millie'' Zahl,
86, of East Michigan Street in New Carlisle, Ind., passed away
peacefully on Tuesday, October 27, 1998, in her home. She was
born on September 19, 1912, in East Chicago, Ill., to Leo and
Anna (Caban) Pudlo.
As Michialene Pudlo she married Owen Wiltfong
in 1935. He preceded her in death in 1938. She then married Harry
Stachowski in 1941. He preceded her in death in 1951. She
then married Carl P. Zahl in 1963, and he preceded her in death
in 1982. Mrs. Zahl was blessed with a son, Robert Owen Wiltfong,
who preceded her in death on October 11, 1995; and was also
preceded in death by a stepson, Carl H. Zahl, on October 9, 1993.
A sister, Mary of Hammond, Ind., also preceded her in death in
1997. Surviving are two stepdaughters, Irma Brasseur
(Norman) of Clearwater, Fla., and Joan K. Zahl of New Carlisle.
Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Jodie Crandall (Ken)
of Muskegon, Mich., Linda Gilcrest (Roger) of Muncie,
Ind., Cathleen Wiltfong (Charles) of New Carlisle, Judy Floyd
(Robert) of Clearwater, Fla., Jane Zahl-Crowley (John) of
South Bend, Ken Brasseur of Fishers, Ind., David Brasseur of New
Carlisle, Paul Zahl (Diane) of New Carlisle, Beth Remington
(Kevin) and Christopher Schick. Mrs. Zahl is also survived
by fifteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 1998, in the New Carlisle Wesleyan Church, 201 E. Ada Street, New Carlisle, Ind., with Rev. Donald Bayne officiating. Burial will follow in the New Carlisle Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 1998, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 South Filbert Street, New Carlisle. Mrs. Zahl was a member of the New Carlisle Wesleyan Church. Memorials may be made to the Wesleyan Church.
