SOUTH BEND - Chester A. "Chuck" Zakrocki, 85,
died Sunday in his home. Chuck was born on July 16, 1923, to the
late Alex and Mary (Vargo) Zakrocki. On April 26, 1947, he
married Veronica (Vern) Barczykowski, who passed away on
September 19, 1996. He was also preceded in death by his sister,
Irene Wawrzyniak, and by his two brothers, Clarence and
Herbert Zakrocki. He is survived by his special friends, Dolores
J. Ciesielski of South Bend and Rev. John Klimczyk
of South Bend, and a few nieces and nephews. Chuck worked for
Studebaker for 20 years and then for Wheelabrator for 20 years.
He was a member of St. Joseph Young Men's Society, St. Adalbert
Catholic Church, American Legion Post 357, Holy Name Society and
the Ushers Club at St. Adalbert Catholic Church. ST. JOSEPH
FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, is assisting the
family.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. A private inurnment in St. Joseph Mausoleum, St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend, will take place. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; to the Center for the Homeless, 813 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46601; or to St. Adalbert Catholic Church, 2505 W. Grace St., South Bend, IN 46619
