Mrs. Genevieve L. Zander, 66, of Rt. 5, Walkerton (Koontz Lake) died at 1 a.m. Saturday in New Castle, Ind. after an extended illness.

She formerly worked for the Portiss Hat Co. in Michigan City, and lived at Koontz Lake since 1964, moving there from South Bend.

She was married Jan. 4, 1938 in Michigan City to Harold O. Zander, who survives. Other survivors include a son Wayne O. Zander of Newcastle; four grandchildren; a brother Rieck of St. Petersburg, Fla.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Welsheimer Funeral Home, with Rev. Robert C. Bowman of the First Presbyterian Church of Walkerton officiating.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

She was a past worthy matron of OES Chapter 2 and the Ladies Auciliary of the South Bend Shrine Club. Chapter 2 of OES will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
