SOUTH BEND - Patrick M. Zappia, 60, of Springfield, Mich., died of natural causes Tuesday at his home.

Mr. Zappia had been employed for more than 10 years as an environmental inspector with South Bend Health Department.

He was born Feb. 27, 1934, in South Bend. Surviving are a daughter, Cynthia Zappia-Schulte of South Bend; three sons, Michael of Crown Point, Leone and Loris, both of South Bend; two grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Caruso of Canton, Ohio, and Mary Stanton of Amhurst, N.Y.; and a brother, Joseph M. of South Bend.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

Graveside services were at noon Friday at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Royal Funeral Home, Battle Creek, Mich., was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, Battle Creek.
