Sister M. Idelphonse Zavisza CSC, 73, of Bertrand Hall at St. Mary’s, died Tuesday evening in St. Joseph Medical Center, South Bend. She was born Sept. 23, 1911 in Morris, Ill. As Olga Claire Zavisza, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross Sept. 1, 1926. She was received as a novice Aug. 15, 1927 and professed her vows two years later. She was assigned to elementary schools teaching the primary grades her entire community life. She4 was one of the first teachers at Holy Cross School in South Bend, where she served from 1929 to 1942. She also taught in Anderson, Valparaiso and Michigan City, where she was a principal; and in Chicago and Flint. She was most recently a receptionist at Moreau Seminary at Notre Dame.

 

Mass of the resurrection will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Loretto Church and burial will follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, at St. Mary’s. Friends may call at anytime today in the convent parlors, where a wake services will be at 7 p.m. today.
