Stephen J. Zawadzki Sr.

SOUTH BEND - Services for Stephen J. Zawadzki Sr., 86, of Varsity Drive, who died Friday afternoon of heart failure while driving in the 3200 block of McKinley Avenue, will be at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Peter's United Church of Christ. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or American Heart Association.

 

Mr. Zawadzki retired in 1970 from Roach Appleton Manufacturing Co. (now Raco Inc.) as resident factory manager and general superintendent after 42 years of service. He was born Oct. 22, 1907, in Chicago and lived in South Bend since 1930, coming from Chicago.

 

On Feb. 28, 1931, in Chicago, he married Lillian R. Bluemke. She died March 30, 1990. He is survived by a daughter, Louise V. Zawadzki of Santa Clarita, Calif.; two sons, Stephen J. Jr. of San Diego and James F. of Watertown, Conn.; four grandchildren; and a sister, Irene L. Evans of Mishawaka. He was a member of the Over 60s Club of the church and South Bend Rotary Club.
