SOUTH BEND - Helen Zawierucha, 83, of Fir Lane, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 8:41 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 20, in St. Joseph's Medical Center. She was born on Sept. 18, 1914, in South Bend to Frank and Mary (Pawlak) Kendziora. On July 4, 1936, in South Bend, she married Andrew C. Zawierucha, who preceded her in death on July 7, 1975. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Larry Kendziora in 1993 and Joseph Kendziora in 1984. Mrs. Zawierucha was a homemaker, and had worked at South Bend Window Cleaning from 1966 to 1976. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jo Zawierucha of South Bend; a son, Jim Zawierucha of South Bend; and a sister, Mary Nawrocki of South Bend.

A private Mass and burial will take place. Mrs. Zawierucha was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Harvest House, Good Will, Apostleship of Prayer and the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary, all of the church. She was also a member of the Police Women's Alliance of America Group 305-Poland Resurrection Society and the Logan Industries Parents Group.
