Chesterine A. Zdoniak

Chesterine A. Zdoniak, 85, of S. Grant Street, South Bend, died at 2:03 p.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. She was born November 17, 1916, in South Bend and was the daughter of Alex and Louise Ilczak. Mrs. Zdoniak retired in 1979 from the former Goldblatt's Department Store where she had worked for 14 years.

 

On April 24, 1937, as Chesterine Ilczak, she married John Zdoniak who preceded her in death on June 22, 2000. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Lou (Richard) Kuczmanski of South Bend; four grandchildren, Sue Kuspa, Luanne (Rob) Korpal, Eric (Dianna) Kuczmanski and John (Michele) Kuczmanski, all of South Bend; eight great-grandchildren, Jason, Adam and Stephanie Kuspa, Ashley, Jared and Eric Korpal, and Jacob and Rachel Kuczmanski; and her two sisters, Harriet Matusiak and Irene Lubelski, both of South bend.

 

Family and friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., where a rosary will be said at 4:00 p.m. Services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday in St. Adalbert Catholic Church with burial to follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Mrs. Zdoniak was a member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church and the Polish Women's Alliance of American, Group #355. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Adalbert Building Fund. Busia will be remembered by how generous she was with her family. Be it either by her gift giving, the goodies she would bring them, the giving of her time, but mostly by her unconditional love.
