Ira Earl Zehring

Ira E. Zehring, 74, of 746 S. 35th Street, died at 1:15 today in St. Joseph Hospital. He had been ill for six months. Mr. Zehring was born in Centerville, Ind., June 8, 1889, and lived here for 50 years. He married Lena Deitchley in Mishawaka Jan. 28, 1917. He had been employed at the Ball Band Plane, Mishawaka for 39 years before he was retired in 1946. Surviving are his widow; one son Virgil Zehring, South Bend; one daughter, Mrs. Catherine Miller, Mishawaka; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Frank Zehring, Chesterton, Glenn Zehring, Apple Valley, Calif. And Ora Zehring, Niles and one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Johnson, South Bend. A son Earl Zehring, died in 1961. Friends may call in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka, after 7 p.m. today until the funeral services at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Monica’s Church, Mishawaka. Rev. Leo A. Hoffman, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Mishawaka. He was a member of St. Monica’s Church and the Ball Band Retirees Club.

Pallbearers at services for Ira. E. Zehring, 746 S. 35th Street, who died Saturday will be Larry Zehring, Eugene Zehring, James Kalka, John Miller, Carroll Deitchley and John Deitchley. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday in St. Monica’s Catholic Church with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery there. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka.
