Virgil Zehring, 65, of Highland Ind. A former South Bend resident died Friday in St Mary Medical Center, Hobart. He was born on April 28, 1918 in South Bend and lived here until 1969, when he moved to Highland. He was retired from Blaw Knox Co., East Chicago.

On June 299, 1950, in Mishawaka, he was married. His wife Ruth survives with two sons, Larry Zehring of South Bend and Ernst Scott of Ann Arbor, Mich.; five grandchildren; and a sister Catherine Miller of Granger.

 

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. CDST Tuesday at Anthony and Dziadowicz Funeral Home, Munster and at 2:30 p.m. EST Tuesday at First Christian Church in Mishawaka. Rev. LaVerne Ervin, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call7 to 9 p.n. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. He was a US Army veteran of World War II; a member of South Bend Lodge 294, F&AM. Lodge Council Chapter Concilliatory, Valley of South Bend; Disabled American Veterans Post No. 80, Crown Point; and American Legion Post No. 332, Hammond.

 

Editor: He was previously married to Bernice Norma Hirmann on March 6, 1942. The child mentioned – Larry was born of this marriage. His second marriage was to Ruth Scott. Her maiden name was Ruth Robeson and the child Ernest mentioned above is from her prior marriage.
