Dr. Irvin L. Zeiger, 83, died on Wednesday, April 23, in the Manor Care Summer Trace Nursing Home, 12999 N. Pennsylvania Street, Carmel, IN 46032.
Dr. Zeiger was born March 20, 1914, in Madison Township, St. Joseph County, Ind.
A graduate of the Indiana Medical School in December of 1944, Dr. Zeiger served his country as a captain in the Navy Medical Corps until his discharge in 1947. His general practice was in River Park, South Bend, Ind., from 1950 until 1975. Dr. Zeiger retired to Arizona in 1979, returning to Indiana in 1992.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church during his years in South Bend. He was a 50-year member of the Indiana State Medical Association, a member of the American Medical Association and was a former member of the St. Joseph County Medical Association.
He is survived by his daughter Nancy and her husband, William Gilbert of Kokomo, Ind.; two grandchildren, Michael and Julie Gilbert, also of Kokomo; his son, Dr. Richard J. Zeiger of Beverly Hills, Calif.; a sister Mildred and her husband, Lyle Bailey of Kendallville, Ind.; and by his brother Gerald and his wife, Sophie Zeiger of Mishawaka, Ind.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood, where friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of services. Rev. Ross Cook of Grace United Methodist Church will officiate.
