Virginia A. Zeiger

Virginia A. Zeiger, 76, of Folkstone Court, Mish-awaka, Ind., passed away after an illness at 11:08 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, in Saint Joseph Medical Center, South Bend, Ind.

 

Virginia was born on Feb. 25, 1924, in Elkhart, Ind., as the daughter of the late John and Beulah (Wick) Kaiser. She was also preceded in death by one great-grandson, and one brother, John Kaiser, II. Virginia was a lifetime Michiana area resident.

 

On Jan. 17, 1945, in Mishawaka, as the former Virginia A. Kaiser, she married Kenneth L. Zeiger, who has also been waiting for her spirit to join him since March 27, 1999.

 

Virginia is survived by two daughters, Janet (Richard) Cress of Elkhart and Barbara Schmidt of Mishawaka; one son, James (Jan) Zeiger of Columbus, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, Timothy (Kelly) Cress, Dawn Cress, Paul (Susan) Cress, Patrick (Donna) Cress, Pamela Wilson, Richard (Danielle) Schmidt, Kenneth Schmidt, Shannan Schmidt, Tracie Zeiger and Jim Zeiger, Jr; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Darlene Rhoutsong of Dayton, Nev.; and by a brother, Darl (Helen) Kaiser of Shipshewanna, Ind.

 

Virginia was employed by McDonald Dairy, formerly Riverside Dairy, for over forty years. She was a member of the former South Bend Turners and A.A.R.P. Virginia was also a member of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and the former Rainbow Girls. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, travelling and bowling. Virginia has left behind many memories for her children and grandchildren to cherish. Her many sewing projects, fun vacations taken, and her love for her family will never be forgotten.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home, with Rev. Erv Mize officiating.

 

Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind.
