Virginia Margaret Zeiger

South Bend - Virginia Margaret Zeiger, 75, of South Bend, passed away at 10:25 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2006, in her home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mrs. Zeiger was born on September 2, 1930, in Bremen, IN, to the late Harlan and Edna (Wagner) Balsley. She had been a lifelong area resident.

On March 24, 1962, in Lakeville, Virginia married Duane O. Zeiger, who survives. Along with her husband, Duane, survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Lynne Zeiger of Bremen; eight grandchildren, Jeff Kincaid, Danielle Espy, Gabrielle Hand, Jonelle Thompson, Gloria Zeiger, Nina Zeiger, Lucy Zeiger and Michelle Zeiger; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Norma (William) Wood of Elkhart, H. Marie Shafer of Lakeville and Joyce (Roger) Schafer of Lakeville.

Virginia was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Marie Shaffer Bacon on April 6, 2001 and Penelope Ann Shaffer Prusinski on August 23, 1995.

Mrs. Zeiger was the president and co-owner of Zeiger Brothers, Inc., a milk transportation and farming business. She retired in 1999 after lifelong work. Mrs. Zeiger was a member of the Lakeville United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2006, in the Lakeville United Methodist Church. Rev. Larry Dimick, pastor, will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Bremen Cemetery, Bremen, IN.

 

Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. today, June 13th, in the Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville, and one hour prior to services in the church on Wednesday.
