Genevieve Zeiler

SOUTH BEND - Genevieve Zeiler, 95, of Greensprings Manor, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the nursing home. Mrs. Zeiler retired in 1968 from the University of Notre Dame. She was born Oct. 24, 1899, in Germany and came to the United States in 1924. In 1918, in Germany, as Genevieve Vogel, she married Benedict Zeiler. He died in 1960. She is survived by a daughter, Ann C. Hood of Carmel, Ind.; a son, Alfred H. Sr. of Mishawaka; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Frieda Schramm Trippel of Mishawaka and Agnes Petzke Miller of Sarasota, Fla. She was former secretary-treasurer of German Greater Beneficial Union, a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church until 1968, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, and a former volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where a parish rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity.
