Sister Mary Zigmunda, of the Sisters of Holy Cross, died at St. Mary’s Convent Friday afternoon following an extended illness.

 

She was born Emily Margaret Kunzelmann in Sulzdorf, Bavaria in 1883.

 

Sister received her early education in Moos, Bavaria, and came to the United Sttates in 1903 to enter the Sisters of the Holy Cross. She received the habit of the sisterhood in 1904 and made her final profession of vows in 1906.

 

Sister Mary Zigmunda was assigned to Holy Cross Convent, Notre Dame in 1905 and was on duty at the University of Notre Dame until the close of the convent in 1958. The Requiem High  Mass will be offered in the Church of Loretta on the St. Mary’s campus at 4 p.m. today.

 

Burial will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at St. Mary’s Convent Cemetery.
