Sister M. Imogene Zilafro CSC, 94, of Saint Mary’s Convent died about 12:55 p.m. Monday in the convent. She was born Mary Imogene Zilafro on Dec. 6, 1885 in East Prairie, Mo. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s on June 28, 1922; was received as a novice on Jan. 6, 1923; and professed her vows on Aug. 15, 1925. She is survived by a niece and a nephew. She was an elementary school teacher, serving in Indiana in Logansport, Valparaiso, Michigan City and LaPorte; in Illinois at Cairo, Peoria and Danville; and in Austin, Texas, and Flint, Mich. In 1968 she was assigned to Our Lady of Holy Cross Convent until her retirement in 1979.

 

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, both at St. Mary’s. Friends may call at the convent after 3 p.m. Wednesday.
