Deborah E. Zimmerman, 49, of Springfield Court, Granger, Ind., died after an illness at 2:25 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind. Debe was born on Jan. 20, 1952, in South Bend, to David and Dorothy (Parent) Stein, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Stein. She lived in the area all of her life, and graduated in 1970 from the former Andrew Jackson High School. Debe liked to bowl and had a collection of bunnies. She had a great love for her family and friends. Debe worked for Sears in South Bend, and spent 20 years with the Riverview Lumber Company in Elkhart, Ind., working in the accounting department.

 

She is survived by her husband, Jon Roberts of Granger; a stepdaughter, Angela (Chris) Lindzy of Elkhart; three stepsons, Mathew Zimmerman of Elkhart, Larry Fales of Elkhart and Bill Fales of Ames, Iowa; three step-grandchildren, Kyle and Zachary Lindzy, and Blake Fales, all of Elkhart; two sisters, Cynthia (Alex) Horvath of South Bend and Sharron (Robert) Cook of Granger; a brother, Craig (Joan) Stein of Lakeville, Ind.; two sisters-in-law, Judy Stein of Evanston, Ill., and Judy (Darrel) Collier of Elkhart; four brothers-in-law, Jerry (Becky) Roberts and Jack (Pam) Roberts, both of Bristol, Ind., and Jim (Nerida) Roberts and Jeff (Kim) Roberts, both of Elkhart; her mother and father-in-law, Faye and John Jones of Elkhart; 21 nieces and nephews, and 39 great-nieces and nephews; and by a very special lifelong friend, Lynn Chamberlin of Mishawaka.

 

There will be a gathering of family and friends from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, in the home of her sister, Sharron (Robert) Cook, 52260 Filbert Road, Granger. The McGann Funeral Homes, Council Oak Gardens Chapel, 21275 W. Cleveland Road, South Bend, are handling the arrangements.
