Mary E. Zimmerman, 83, of 319 Miami Club Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., went to heaven at 8:27 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, after a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. She passed away at home surrounded by her loving husband and family. Mary was born on Feb. 4, 1917, in Mishawaka. She had resided in Mishawaka all of her life.
Mary is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald L. Zimmerman. She is also survived by a son, Chuck Zimmerman, his wife Nancy, and their children, Jennifer and Don; a daughter, Jane Wright and her husband Roger, and their children, Scott, Katie and Ann; a sister, Dorothy Wiekamp, and her husband Dar; and by nieces and nephews, Mary Lou, Dennis, Jim, Julie, J.T. and Jennifer Schwartz.
Mary selflessly devoted her time to loving and caring for her family. She brightened the lives of her grandchildren and all who knew her with her love and kindness. Mary was an influence and inspiration to all the lives she touched. She will be greatly missed.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 10, in the HAHN FUNERAL HOME, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, in the First United Methodist Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Daniel Motto officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
