James J. Zuber

April 2, 1947 - Dec. 21, 2007

South Bend Tribune 12/26/2007
GRANGER - James J. Zuber, 60, born April 2, 1947, transitioned from this life on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, to forever be with God. Diagnosed in 2004 with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, which progressively scars lung tissue and prohibits oxygen/CO2 exchange, Jim received a single lung transplant in June 2005.

Jim was grateful for two more years of quality life with wife, Diane, daughters, Jennifer Wilson and Cathy Culberson, grandchildren, Brian and Emily Culberson, friends and family. Jim and Diane are thankful for the Methodist transplant program and willing organ donors. A Purdue graduate with an MBA from Krannert School of Business and a CPA, Jim had always been an advocate of lifelong learning.

His body has been contributed to the I.U. Medical Center for research and study. We request donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation for research to cure this devastating disease.

Memories of Jim's life will be shared during a Celebration of Life Gathering on Saturday, Jan. 12th, at 2:00 p.m. in Clay United Methodist Church, North Campus at 52866 N. Ironwood, South Bend, IN 46635. An accepting faith in God's Plan, Presence, and Love gave Jim courage and comfort through this transition process.
