Anna M. Zurat

Anna M. Zurat, 84, of Tanglewood Trace in Mishawaka, IN, (formerly of Corby Blvd. in South Bend) passed away at 1 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2006, in the home of her daughter, Linda Boyer in Mishawaka.

 

She was born on February 10, 1922, to the late Howard and Vera (Kelly) Ulbricht in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident.

 

Along with her parents, two sisters and two brothers also preceded her in death. Ann was a 1940 graduate of Riley High School, and was a Studebaker employee during the WWII years. It was at Studebaker where she met her future husband.

 

On July 28, 1945, as Anna M. Ulbricht, she married Joseph L. Zurat at St. Casimir Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. He died on September 18, 1977. Ann also worked for the City of South Bend Purchasing Department, where she retired after 20 years of employment. She also was employed at Madison Drugs in South Bend, IN.

 

Ann is survived by three daughters, Shirley (Jim) Rouhselang of South Bend, IN, Linda (Merle) Boyer of Mishawaka, IN, and Lori (Rick) Godziela of Chandler, AZ; one son, Larry (Stacey) Zurat of Granger; IN; five grandchildren, Chris (Beth) Boyer, Bryan (Jennifer) Boyer, M.D., David Rouhselang, Kaitlin Godziela, Mark Zurat; and nine great-grandchildren.

 

Ann was a loving woman of grace, compassion and generosity towards everyone. She was particularly fond of young children, and fully devoted to her family and friends. The warmth of her love will always be remembered and missed.

 

Ann was a longtime member of St. Anthony Parish in South Bend, IN, and recently became a member of St. Pius X Parish in Granger, IN.

 

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2006, in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m.

 

Family and friends may also visit from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2006, in St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 Fir Road, Granger, IN. At the 10:30 a.m. conclusion of visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held with Rev. William Schooler officiating.

 

Entombment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
