Caryol F. Zutter

SOUTH BEND - Caryol F. Zutter, 78, of South Bend, passed away at 5:50 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2008, in her home. Caryol worked as a secretary for an attorney and as a bank teller, and also for the Studebaker Corporation before devoting her full time to family. She was born on November 19, 1929, in Oconto, WI, to the late Robert and Leona (Lorang) Morris, and had lived in South Bend since 1952, coming from Oconto. Caryol's mother passed away when she was age nine and Robert remarried Margaret Petersen.

 

On October 11, 1952, in Oconto, she married Donald J. Zutter, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Beth A. (Don) Roberts of Evansville, IN; sons, Bruce R. (Laura) Zutter of Auburn, AL, and Andrew C. (Jennifer) Zutter of Noblesville, IN; and six grandchildren, Andy, Ben, Leah and Sarah Zutter, Allyson and Anthony Roberts. One sister, Janice Manning, preceded her in death.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in Zion United Church of Christ. Pastor David Gerth will officiate. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615. Caryol had been a member of Zion United Church of Christ since 1953. She was part of their Young at Heart Senior Group. When her children were young she also taught Sunday school. Caryol loved the outdoors and in her early years was considered a tomboy. She enjoyed working outdoors, yard work and gardening. She played softball and was an avid bowler, and also liked bingo and bridge. Caryol also enjoyed spending summers with her family at Houghton Lake in Michigan and later years at Kentucky Lake. Contributions in memory of Caryol F.
