By Special Correspondent. SULLIVAN, Ind., Jan, 25, -- William Carpenter, 65, one of the county’s
oldest miners, was killed by a fall of slate in mine No. 33, of the Consolidated
Indiana Coal company, at Hymera. When his body was extricated it was found
that the handle of the pick which he held in his hand had been jammed through
