Biography

Archibald Shaw, 

farmer, Craig Township, was born in Scotland in the year 1812. He was four years old when his parents came to this country and was sixteen years of age before he had an opportunity of attending school. He was married to Margaret, daughter of John Anderson, in 1839, after which event he settled upon his present farm, which then consisted of eighty acres. To Mr. and Mrs. Shaw six children have been born, four of whom are living: Isabelle, Mary, Elizabeth (deceased), William, Wettie and Thomas, the latter diseased (sic). Mr. Shaw and his estimable wife are members of the Baptist Church, being constitutional members of Spring Branch Church. He is one of the well to do farmers of the township. He is a Republican. Mrs. Shaw was born in Scotland in 1817, and was a babe in her mother's arms when brought to America.
