The total white population of Tippecanoe
County in 1850 was 19,216 and the total free colored population was 161.
The number of those born outside of Indiana but in the United States was
8,754, and the number of foreign-born persons was 1,786. The total
number of deaths during the year ending June 1, 1850 was 536 (see mortality
schedule).
