TIPPECANOE COUNTY, INDIANA
1850 CENSUS
w / Everyname Index

Included on the following pages is a transcription of the 1850 census for Tippecanoe County, Indiana.

This project is under construction and at the present time 6 townships have been transcribed.  Those that are indexed: Shelby, Tippecanoe, Wabash and Washington; Perry and Sheffield townships have also been added, but are not yet indexed.

As with any transcription, mistakes can and will be made so it is always best to check with the original record for verification.  When the names or ages were difficult to decipher I used a (?).  Every effort is being made to maintain the integrity of the original census as much as possible, including retaining the unusual spellings.

The total white population of Tippecanoe County in 1850 was 19,216 and the total free colored population was 161.   The number of those born outside of Indiana but in the United States was 8,754, and the number of foreign-born persons was 1,786.  The total number of deaths during the year ending June 1, 1850 was 536 (see mortality schedule).
