Ruelma Row

Ruelma Row

Ruelma Row born 1818 Chilocothe, Ohio died Sept. 17, 1885 in Dayton, Tippecanoe County, Indiana.  We do not know who her parents are but on the back of her picture is written granddaughter of Chief Joseph Brant of the Mohawk Indians.  Her father was a scout for Mad Anthony Wayne at the Battle of Falling Timbers.  The first record we have of her in Tippecanoe County is her marriage record May 5, 1842; she married Ingham Starkey.  They lived in Wyandott and in the Dayton Area.  She had three children: Harriet Starkey (married Daniel Cole), John Starkey (died in Civil War) and Mary Elizabeth (married Dave Clark).  Ingham died Dec. 24, 1853 and was buried in Dayton Cemetery.  She remarried Peter Barnhart around 1860.
