He is survived by five brothers, Cyrus, Sherman, Benjamin, Lemuel, and James LANE, and one sister, Elizabeth LANE. Funeral services will be held at the home of Benjamin LANE Friday morning at 10:30 o'clock. Burial will be made in the New Harmony Cemetery. |

Terre Haute Tribune (April 11, 1932), in a front page article titled "Accident Victim Dies From Hurts" Mrs. Edith LANE DUNN, 24 years old, 1104 South First Street, died at 6:35 o'clock Sunday morning at St. Anthony's Hospital as the result of injuries sustained last Tuesday in an automobile accident at Fourth Street and Washington Avenue. Mrs. DUNN was a passenger in an automobile driven by Mrs. William TOVEY, 1518 Sixth Avenue, which figured in a collision with another machine driven by Mrs. John PIERSON, 1605 South Fifth Street. Both cars were turned over. Mrs. TOVEY and Mrs. PIERSON escaped with slight injuries. Mrs. DUNN is survived by her husband, Horace; one daughter, Margaret Ann, and one sister, Mrs. Clara EASTON. She was a member of the Lambda Delta Phi sorority. The body was removed to the Gillis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1815 South Eleventh Street at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, with burial in Highland Lawn Cemetery. |

Terre Haute Tribune (Sunday, July 11, 1954), under a front page headline titled "3 Wabash Valley Boys Drown" Three Wabash Valley youths drowned Saturday, in two separate tragedies. One of the children was a Terre Haute boy and the other two resided at Montezuma. Saturday afternoon, Philip Michael LANE, 6 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. James LANE, Terre Haute, lost his life in a lake at a summer camp for children near Washington, Ind. The LANES live at 2405 South Sixth Street. The camp where the LANE boy drowned, known as Camp Illiana, is operated by a number of Christian Churches of Indiana and Illinois. The boy accompanied his mother to the camp Saturday to return several local children who had been vacationing at the camp. About 20 minutes after Mrs. LANE and the youngster arrived at the camp the boy approached the lake. It was said that the child lost his balance while attempting to throw a stone into the water and fell into about four and a half feet of water. The body was recovered within a short time. The LANE family is affiliated with the Maple Avenue Christian Church. ! Besides the parents, the child is survived by one brother, Robert Edward, and one sister, Nicky Ann. The body was brought to the Cross Funeral Home Saturday evening. |

Mr. LANE sustained a paralytic stroke about 3 weeks ago while working at the Hulman & Company wholesale grocery. He was an employee of the company for more than 18 years and was a member of the Fort Harrison lodge of Odd Fellows. He is survived by the widow, Mary E., two daughters, Clara and Edith LANE, four brothers and one sister. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. |

Terre Haute Tribune (August 7, 1915) Word was received in Terre Haute Friday evening of the death in Indianapolis, at 6:30 o'clock Friday evening, of Mrs. Carl L. FARRINGTON and infant. Mrs. FARRINGTON, before her marriage, was Miss Clara LANE, of this city, a sister of Sam LANE. She was married about a year ago to Mr. C.L. FARRINGTON of Indianapolis. She was a charter member of the Atheta society of the Women's League of the State Normal, and was very popular. She is survived by her husband, mother, two sisters, and four brothers, in addition to many friends. The body will be brought to Terre Haute Sunday morning and the funeral services will be held at the residence of her mother, 2331 Poplar Street, at 10 o'clock Monday morning. |
