MATHEWS, RAYMOND HAROLD,
75 of South Bend, Indiana, formerly of the Terre Haute/Sullivan Indiana area,
passed away after an extended illness at 11:50 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2002 in his
South Bend Indiana residence with his wife and children by his side.
Mr. Mathews was born June 08, 1927 in Medford, Wisconsin to Claude MATHEWS and Ida Mae
CLARKSON, who have preceded him in death.
On December 29, 1950 in Terre Haute, Indiana, he married the former Rebecca A. SMITH, who
survives. He is also survived by three daughters, Pamela MATHEWS - (David) SMITH, of
Nashville Tn., Penny G. MATHEWS and Paula J. MATHEWS, both of South Bend. He is
survived by four sons, Stephen (Victoria) MATHEWS, Stanley (Pamela) MATHEWS, Timothy
(Sherry) MATHEWS, also of South Bend and Randy (Rochelle) MATHEWS of Plymouth, Indiana.
Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Four brothers also survive, Clifford MATHEWS of Benson Arizona, Earl MATHEWS of Cochise
Arizona, Ronnie MATHEWS of Tucson Arizona and Gerald W. MATHEWS of Las Vegas, Nevada; and
a son-in-law, James A. SPENCE of Nashville, Tennessee.
Mr. MATHEWS was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Nicole M. MATHEWS in 1985.
Mr. MATHEWS retired after many years of service from the former Lee-Way Trucking
Company. He was a veteran serving during World War II.
Services are October 13, 2002 in the Hanley & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Andy Taylor
officiating. Burial to follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend, Indiana.

McCULLOUGH,
THOMAS, BRAZIL , Ind., May 25.---Thomas McCullough, 50 years old, former
resident of Hoosierville, died yesterday at the county infirmary, near Bowling Green.
He had spent the greater part of his life in Clay county and is survived by two
brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at the Union church at 2
o'clock Friday afternoon, with burial in Union cemetery.

McCULLOUGH,
THOMAS R., New Goshen, Ind., July 28---Thomas R. McCullough, 58 years old,
died at his residence at 2:15 o¹clock Saturday morning. He was a stationary
engineer at the Davis Gardens at Terre Haute. He was a member of the New Goshen
Masonic Lodge. Surviving are the wife, Cliva; a foster son, Milton Bennett, serving
with the armed forces in Tokyo, Japan; a foster sister, Mrs. Beverly Ludwig, Niles, Mich.;
a brother, Hugh Waugh, East Glenn; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Gilmour, Princeton, and
Mrs. Dorothy Appell, Indianapolis. The body was taken to Frist Funeral Home at
Clinton.

WILLIAM G., BRAZIL , Ind., Oct 9.-- William G. Mershon , well known coal
miner of this city, died this morning at the home at Hadleytown, of asthma and cerebral
hemorrhage at the age of 67 years. The deceased was born in Owen county, Kentucky
but came to Indiana at an early age and had lived in Clay county most of his life.
He was probably better known to the public as an old fashioned fiddler, being
proficient in the old style of playing and had carried away many prizes in old fiddlers'
contests. He is survived by the widow, Rose Mershon; three daughters and two sons as
follows: Mrs. Ben Slack, Mrs. John T. Patrick, and Mrs. Virgil Dewey, all of this
community; Charles Mershon, at home, and Thomas Mershon of Grand Rapids, Mich. He is
also survived by a brother, Frank Mershon, of Terre Haute. He was a member of Brazil
lodge No. 264, F. & A. M. Funeral services will be held at the Union church near
Hoosierville at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon in charge of the Masons; interment in Union
cemetery.

HARVEY
Harvey Murphey, 43 years old, died at the county asylum about 1 o'clock Friday
afternoon. He had been inmate of the asylum for about two years. Three
brothers, George of Saline
City, Ind., Robert of Montezuma, and Phillip of Mattoon, Ill; and two sisters, Mrs. Etta
Winfield and Mrs. Amanda Mahan, both of Shelburn, Ind., survive. No
arrangements have been made for the disposition of the body.

MRS. BEN Linton, Ind., June 10--Mrs. Ben Myers, age 28, died yesterday at
her home on Vincennes Street. She leaves a husband and four small children. The burial
