While trying to gain a better vantage point for a photograph
along US 40, about 9 miles east of Terre Haute, and just east
of Seelyville, I discovered something quite unexpected.

Atop a hill on the North side of US 40 was a small grave plot
of about 5 graves in a cluster.  This is directly across the
road from Valley Apartments (9999 E US HIGHWAY 40).  I took
photos of the following markers:

Caroline Patterson
died 2 Jul 1839
aged 37 years

Thomas J Patterson
died 1 Sep 1832
aged 32 years

Elizabeth Patterson
died 8 Mar 1832
aged 32 years

There were 2 additional markers.  One was as large as those
pictured here, was broken near the base, and was unreadable.
The other was quite small, about 8 inches tall and also
unreadable.
